"J is for Jaws"
by Liz VanZandt

"Are you sure you don't have an evil twin, Captain?"

Nathan Bridger sighed in exasperation. "Lucas, I was 14 years old when that movie was released."

It was the weekly movie night aboard seaQuest. One of Ben Krieg's many morale-boosting ideas had been to bring in a different movie each week for the crew to watch. For the most part, movie night had been a success, although some, such as tonight's classic horror flick Jaws, were greeted less warmly than others. This one had become fodder for more than one joke, especially over the resemblance between one of the stars and their own Captain Bridger.

"Well you are from Massachusetts, sir," Katie Hitchcock pointed out.

Bridger shot her a glare. "You're not helping, Commander."

Miguel Ortiz shook his head in amusement, trying to keep his laughter from bubbling out as he reached for the case from the movie. "What I want to know is how this movie can be considered a horror movie."

"That shark did look pretty real," Tim O'Neill replied, reaching up to remove his glasses in order to clean them. "For the time at least," he added, receiving doubtful stares.

"Pretty unbelievable, I think," Kristin Westphalen commented. "There has never been recorded evidence of sharks that large off of the Massachusetts coast."

"I don't know," Ben Krieg defended his choice of entertainment. "I thought it was pretty scary. Did you see the people and the fashions in those beach scenes?"

From all around the room, Ben was bombarded with flying kernels of popcorn.
